Just here for the cheeseburgers…
Jay hails from the PNW and absolutely loves what Washington State has to offer – but his knees sure as hell don’t. Stoked to join the Proteus Team as the “People’s Champ” in our 23’/24′ Rider Search, his 6th Chair crew came strong and has been there backing him up every step of the way. Jay hopes you enjoy his board as much as he does, and more so, that your MCLs do too.
What do you enjoy when you’re not boarding? When I’m not boarding I tend to find myself either playing guitar, making music, skating, and making art. I’m huge into playing Skate 3 as well as any Madden before 2013.
Who or what has influenced your riding the most? My buddies Zion, Joe, and Nate are all huge inspirations for how I ride. I learned how to ride from skiers, and I like to take cues from how they ride and implement it into my style. Another huge inspiration is Zeb Powell, I would give all my money just to have 5% of the style that man has.
Where do you see yourself boarding, or what does snowboarding look like in 20 years? Man… In 20 years I hope to see myself settled down at Mt. Baker, and by that time have mastered the backcountry terrain that it has to offer us. I gotta take amazing care of my knees for that to happen, so it looks like I’ll need to enroll myself in some yoga classes.
What would be the title of your autobiography? The title of my autobiography would definitely be “8 am Beers Ah Hell Nah”
Favorite post-ride meal/beer/tradition? My favorite post-ride meal is a slice of Costco pizza and a hazy IPA from Kulshan Brewery.
